How To Troubleshoot Microphone issues on Windows 10

If you are experiencing Microphone issues on Windows 10, it could be because of outdated drivers, which can result in recording and sound playback issues.

In case you're utilizing a specific microphone, it is necessary to obtain the appropriate drivers for your device. You can refer to the following instructions to update the drivers.

To troubleshoot the Microphone issue on Windows 10:

  • Open System Settings

  • Select Troubleshoot from the list

  • Click on Recording Audio and Run the Troubleshooter test. If there are any issues mentioned, follow the steps below:

Uninstall and reinstall your microphone drivers:

  • Open your Device Manager.

  • Search for Audio inputs and outputs.

  • Right-click on your audio source name and click Uninstall Device.

  • Once it's been removed, right-click on Audio inputs and outputs and select Scan for hardware change. 

  • This action will reinstall your in-built drivers.

Privacy:

  • Open your Settings, find and click Privacy.

  • Make sure you turn on permission to use your Microphone.

  • Ensure that the toggle under “Let apps use my microphone” is switched “On”.

Restart Device:

If still the problem persists, try restarting your Device.
